San Severino Blues Festival

06/21/2009 - 10:37

Does anyone know if the San Severino Blues Festival is happening this year? I've been waiting for the website to change it's listing for the past couple of months but nothing new has been loaded. We missed seeing Patti Smith last year and wanted to see if anyone interesting was on this year to offer us a break from repairs and decorating on our house in Sarnano.

Try again, now its disappeared altogether. Joe Jackson headlined last year and the details on the website are for last July's festival together with details of the winter gospel festival, a primavera pre-festival competeition for artists/bands to audition to get onto the bill for this years festival & an advert for David Byrne (ex Talking Heads) in Senigalia. If you can see this year festival lineup can you please tell me who is appearingCheersPete

The San Severino Blues festival seems 2B happening even though their site is lacking in info. You need to check up on the Music club Italia site and filter for July and then scroll down to Marchehttp://www.musicclub.it/musicclub/jsp/concerti/index.jsp?datadalCL=20090... One of the bands playing is Joan as Policewoman  on 9th July who had an NME acclaimed album last year, musical genre flits between folk and indie and sounds great- here's a link to one of the many of hers on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnkJv--UL1g&feature=related Also playing Potenza Picena on the 15 July are  British/US ska band The Toasters that have been around since 1982 check them out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-eHskJQrQU&feature=fvst Alterantively, do the short drive to Perugia for Umbria Jazz http://www.umbriajazz.com/mediacenter/Risorse/Flash/Programma%20Umbria%2... its worth going for the town and the spectacle when there are also many free stages hosting live soul, funk, jazz and indie- highlights this year are Steely Dan, BB King and George Benson. Also check out Neon club at Ancona who have an Indie disco upstairs and host some good breaking bands.

Did find some sort of link to this years listing a couple of weeks back but not sure where. From musicclub.it9/7 Joan As Policewoman10/7 Vasti Jackson12/7 Otis Taylor22/7 Bob Margolin24/7 Matt Schofield Bandand others. Matt Schofield definitely very highly recommended though I haven't managed to see him yetI'm seeing Derek Trucks (currently plays mean slide guitar with Allman Brothers as well as his own band) here at home in Newcastle next week - he's apparently got 3 Italian Blues Festival gigs in the next few days, though not San Severino, though I think one is in Abruzzo.Unfortunately I'm not back in le Marche until mid august so will miss all this, but will probably catch local AC/DC and Led Zeppelin tribute bands at Loro Piceno Vino Cotto Festival next month
