Mobile phones

My old mobile phone has finally expired - I have used a Vodafone pay as you go SIM card. I now wish to purchase a mobile where I can make a relatively low number of telephone calls here and occasionally in the UK , send a few texts and infrequently access my web site and send and receive e mails. Can anyone suggest what I should consider? Is a Blackberry the best option or a mobile with good interenet access and also is there a  good provider and package? Is a contract best or pay as you go based on a relative low rate of mobile activitiy. Sorry I am a complete dinosaur when it comes to communications and are completely baffled by the hosat of providers here.

.. if you want internet access (or mobile in general for that matter) it will depend on the coverage of the company in that area. Or if you are on the move , the general coverage of the comany. A Blackberry is heavy duty unless you want PC like functionality. I would suggest if you are in Italy , unless your Italian is real good... you wait until you visit the UK and speak to any of the big companies here, telling them what you want from it... Of course they will try to sell you as much as they can... so just don't buy anything, walk away and have a think about it or come back on here and ask more questions...
