Does the PM facility here work

Hi Views on the above, do people feel they do not always get replies? Of course it is difficult as people just may not answer, but the numbers may tell...

but I perhaps should have mentioned I have received messages, but wondered if that many sent would go unanswered. If your assumptions about having to post to say you have PM someone are correct, then perhaps a clearer notification of messages received would be a good idea? I must add my experience of other forums indicates the lack of reply is not normal and I know this forum is just as helpful as those others - just made me wonder.

Is the facility for notifying a member when someone has replied in a thread or sent a personal pm no longer working?  It used to in the old forum.  I just logged on today to find that people had responded to a post of mine and that I also had a pm waiting for me.  In the past, I used to receive an e-mail notification.

I have sent/received 15/20 to date (so not a regular activity!). But, I always respond, I do not always get a response though. There may be an issue whereby some posters don't know that they have received a 'pm'. The message area isn't a 'bright lights' area so maybe messages can be missed? I think even a 'no thanks I don't want to comment anymore' pm would close the loop? S

Yes, I did not know that I had any unless I logged on.  In the past, I used to receive a notification in my personal e-mail (outside of this venue) if I had an e-mail or if someone had responded to a post, like now.  I no longer receive anything in my personal e-mail so if I don't check the Italy Mag site, I am not notified.  I suspect that this is the same with others as well.

I am a member of another forum and I get an email when I get a PM.  I also asked for notification when a fellow member posted as I am trying to help them on a particular issue and dont usually have time to check in daily.  This doesn't seem to work but it might be a setting I need to enable

Well it was only because of this topic that I realised a) that I was not logged in, and b) that there was a message that has been waiting for me for about two months. So that might be an example of why replies are not as common as they might be.

Yes, Lingua and italian Life, This Forum (in its old format) sent an e-mail both for private messages and when someone responded to a thread that you were subscribed to, so you didn't need to log in or check the site frequently to see if anyone had resonded.  It would be nice to get this feature back!
