The Italian song of the week - "I Giardini di Marzo"

06/10/2009 - 07:22

Following to a suggestion from Patricia (alias Dublin Patricia), I've decided to dedicate the Italian song of the week on ITALY Community to Lucio Battisti. I've chosen "I Giardini di Marzo" that has been at the top of 1972's hit parades for 7 weeks. Here's a short bio taken from wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucio_Battisti"Lucio Battisti (05/03/1943 - 09/09/98) was an Italian singer-songwriter. He is considered to be one of the best and most influential musicians and authors in Italian pop/rock music history.Battisti started his career in 1966 and from 1969 to 1994 he released 18 albums in his home country. A significant part of his production was translated into Spanish (various albums) and English (one album). He was renowned to be an extremely reserved artist: during his successful career he performed only a relatively small number of live concerts and, in 1976, he announced he would communicate only through his studio albums, completely disappearing from Italian public scene."If you would like to have other Battisti's song posted here, do not hesitate to add a new video. Just create a comment and hit the video icon (third from the last).Enjoy!

Grazie mille!. I havn't seen this video before .Is it possible to give a vote higher than average  would say eccellente ( it  IS Lucio  after all)

I had the pleasure, during the last couple of days, of listening to the Italian version of the song "Memory"  from the musical Cats sung by Paul Potts (from his CD album "Passione").  I am enchanted by the Italian version which is called "Piano".  I know they did the Italian version of the show in Milan last year.  I have searched IBS.it, Ebay.it and blogosfere.it for either a DVD or CD album of the Italian version of the show and so far no luck.  Any idea where else to look in Italy?  Thank you!Serge

Hi ValentinaI did not give up the search!  I did not find an Italian recording of the show because I do not think there is one!  What I did find is that the show will be in Rome: Teatro Sistina in October 2009. There are supposed to be other performances in Milan, Naples, Turin, Florence and other cities. Of course all the songs will be in Italian.  We (our family) will aim to catch one of the shows!  I hope an official cd will be released after the tour.  It will be interesting to see how they translate the names of the some the characters eg Rumpleteazer.  I am keeping an eye on the show's website!
