Noisy airconditioning

We have a top floor apartment and our airconditioning unit is mounted on an outside wall on our terrace. It is a little on the noisy side when it's on....a low hum. The lady in the apartment below has complained it keeps her awake at night(which is when we use it mostly) Is there anything which can be done to reduce the noise. We were advised to put rubber feet where it sits on the wall brackets to reduce vibration but don't know if this will work. Any advice gratefully received

If you go down the 'rubber feet' road, try refixing the wall bracket with rubber feet between it and the wall - this will minimise ant transmitted vibrations. However,  I suspect the problem is more 'fan noise' from the machine, and there is not much you can do about this.  You could look at fitting a horizontal panel below the unit [a shelf] - which could act as a noise deflector and reduce the noise going down to your neigbours flat.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will try the rubber feet and the shelf and see if this helps. Does anyone know where I can buy the rubber feet? I can buy in UK or in Italy.
