Il Tiglio

I know this was on the old forum but I thought it was worth mentioning again. The restaurant Il Tiglio in Isola San Biagio (just outside Montemonaco) is something very different to the other restaurants in this area. For example, they have a water and olive oil list (plus the usual wine list) so that you can choose which you want, as well as the best cheese trolley I have ever tasted. Also, it is silver service and very pleasant inside with plenty of atmosphere. The food is a set meal which costs €30 and consists of approx 8 or 9 courses of small portions of exquisitely prepared food. If you are bored with the local hearty mountain fare then I thoroughly recommend it for a taste of Marche food with a twist. The menu changes monthly and the chef, Enrico, is wonderful (even if he does bear a strange resemblance to Ben Elton!).Website: http://www.sibillinivacanze.com/tiglio.htmPhone number: 0736856168

Our favorite 'mountain' ristorante by a milewhen taking friends. AND the fact that it located in this tiny, (almost) ramshackle hamlet !!! It's a delight.......................

As I've said before - last time I was there there was even someone practising their accordion skills on the steps of their farmhouse.  it could have been 100 years ago, whilst the restaurant itself easily exceeds modern standards
