Anna Tasca Lanza: Sicilian Culinary Experiences
Anna Tasca Lanza is a center of Sicilian food knowledge and culture. Founded in 1989 as a cooking school by Anna herself, the school is now under the direction of her daughter, Fabrizia, and run by an international staff. In the course of its 30 years, the school has expanded from a simple culinary haven providing delicious meals, culinary instruction, and rustic accommodation, to a rich organization promoting Sicily’s diverse gastronomic culture.
Located in 500 hectares of vineyards, the school is home to extensive vegetable plots, orchards, and a beautiful ornamental garden all cultivated according to organic principles. Throughout the year, Anna Tasca Lanza allows guests to experience local food traditions through tailored and themed experiences that range from one day to one week. The school is also home to the annual immersive food education program, Cook the Farm, which gives participants the opportunity to spend two months growing, cooking, eating and thinking about their immediate food landscape.
Join us just for the day, where a typical lunch lesson highlights four courses (antipasto, primo, secondo, dolce) of family recipes from perfect panelle to decadent timballo. Most ingredients come from the surrounding estate (from cold-pressed olive oil to wood-fired bread and the freshest veggies) and are accompanied by Tasca d'Almerita wine. Our kitchen sessions are small, hands-on and perfect for all levels.
For further immersion, stay with us in our 19th-century farmhouse and relax into the remote Sicily of-once-upon a time. Go beyond the kitchen and explore the surrounding landscape. We take you on excursions to experience local culture and meet artisanal producers: mills, olive oil presses, coffee roasters and mornings with the shepherd making and tasting fresh ricotta. We are happy to host guests from one to five nights. We also offer monthly themed workshops that pair good food with creative activities such as yoga, sketching, photography or focus on seasonal products like olive oil, Sicilian wheat and tomatoes. Collaboration is important to us and so we also run weeklong workshops that are led by internationally renowned food personalities such as David Tanis, Sarah Owens, and Renee Erickson.
