11260 Snow!

There is a good covering of snow in the Teramo area of Abruzzo this morning. About 3 or 4 inches already, where we are at 500m, and it is still snowing hard.

Take care if you are having to travel on the roads.

The forecast is for the snow to continue until Sunday lunchtime and if it carries on snowing as heavily as it is now, there will be an awful lot of it by then.

We just drove back from Roma on the Salaria and it was dry until Amatrice, snow between Amatrice and Acquasanta then no snow once we got back to Ascoli Piceno.

We have just got the electricity back. It has been off since 9.30 am.

We have been through all the ‘never mind, I’ll do it in the microwave’ etc. Duh!

Actually it made us think, thank goodness we have an open fire for heat, a gas (bottle) hob for cooking and plenty of candles for light. We know of some people who have ‘modernised’ whilst restoring and who would have been cold and hungry today.

The snow has been very wet and therefore heavy and has taken down some branches from our old olive trees. I have been out bashing it off the palms, which seems really strange!

Anyway we’d had enough of strip dominoes so just as well the telly is back!
