On the 7th of March 2012, Rosenblatt Recitals in London will welcome a performance by acclaimed Italian tenor Giuseppe Filianoti. Born in Reggio Calabria, graduated in 1997 from the “F. Cilea” Conservatory and won a prestigious two-year scholarship to the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala in Milan. During this period of intensive fine-tuning of his artistry, he met Alfredo Kraus, who became his mentor and his decisive influence in artistic style, nuance, technique, and virtuosity.

With an international career developed singing on major opera stages around the world, from the Opera de Bastille to the Metropolitan Opera, Filianoti is now considered to be the most outstanding lyric tenor of his generation.

He recently finished a run as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at La Scala, handpicked by music director Daniel Barenboim to take part in the production alongside Russian star Anna Netbreko and Bryn Terfel to critical success: “It was a lavish show, with as good a Mozart cast as you’ll hear today” (Financial Time).

For his performance in London, Giuseppe Filianoti will give an intimate recital which will display the full beauty of his lyric voice with a programme focusing on great Italian works. He will interpret songs and arias by Cilea, Tosti, Puccini, Respighi, Pizzetti and Pietri, before finishing with Strauss songs. He will be accompanied by pianist Iain Burnside.
