Yesterday, The Ideal City, the Italian 15th century masterpiece, by an unknown artist, and symbol of the Renaissance, arrived at the European parliament in Strasbourg.

The painting is the piece de resistance of an exhibition organized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage which includes 80 works of art by artists of the time including Domenico Veneziano, Piero della Francesca, Leon Battista Alberti and Raffaello. Moreover, for the first time, the painting will be reunited with its twin "Berlin" and "Baltimore" panels which show Classically influenced architecture disposed in logically planned piazzas. This view and the other two related paintings were probably commissioned for the palace of Duke Federico da Montefeltro of Urbino.

After yesterday's preview at the European parliament, today the exhibition is also shown at the Italian Institute of Culture in Strasbourg and will then open on the 6th of April at Palazzo Ducale in Urbino.
