A trip to the beaches of Puglia this summer can be as informative as it is relaxing. The seaside is being transformed into a place of culture where visitors can meet writers, poets and storytellers.

Spiagge d'Autore brings authors to the beaches to socialize with literature lovers in a very nontraditional space. With the beach featured in so many literary works, the relationship between written word and the sea is completed by the choice of location.

The 2011 festival will give special attention to new talents, in order to support emerging Apulian authors. Featured writers include Marisa Di Bello, Antonio Semerari and Luis Bacalov.

There will also be guided tours of Puglia’s castles hosted by actors and literature lessons for children.

The events are free and open to the public. For information about author’s schedules and to make a reservation to ensure your spot at the event, visit Spiagge d'Autore (in Italian).
