A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it can also come with a high price tag. Two Bulgarian tourists learned the hard way when they took one very expensive photo of the Trevi Fountain.
Not satisfied to stand on the side of the fountain and take a picture, the girl decided to get a little closer to the sculptures. Her boyfriend stayed below to take some shots, while the woman climbed up into the monument.
Unfortunately for the couple, Rome takes protecting monuments very seriously.
Police were waiting for the woman when she climbed down off the famous fountain's sculptures. The city raised the penalty for violations last year, so the souvenir snap cost the tourist 500 Euro.
