Cittadella

My final recommendation for mountain restaurants (at least for the moment) is La Cittadella, again in Montemonaco. A wonderful mountain retreat with a pool with probably the best view in Marche! Also voted the no.1 European mountain retreat in The Guardian recently. It is also in the slow food guide. It just has so much atmosphere. The food is a set price, fixed menu for €25. On a Sunday lunchtime this involves many courses of home-cooked food and hand-made pasta and includes all your wine, coffee, water and liquer. Often there is spontaneous entertainment (see our photos) and Silvio (the owner) also runs cookery courses.
