hi !thanks for the welcome my parents were from this region and i spent all my holiday time here since I was a kid so its really a 2nd home .when your young and on holiday you don't see the big picture, after living here 2 years I don't like what I see from the attitude to the corrupt way things are done, its really beyond a joke and I have had enough ! no room for the sentiment so were out of here later this year and la Puglia is worth a try ......we're going to have a look at Marina di Ragusa in Sicily sometime this summer, I'm looking for a place near a golf course and the coast for fishing ....not asking much am i ? lol .

I chose Sicily over Puglia becuase the Salento seems to close in winter. Not Lecce obviously, but the coast is uninhabited between October and May. Here - Marina di Ragusa for example has a year round population, so shops, bars etc. As to your particular problem as to corruption, its the same all over Italy - more visible in some places than in others, and certainly from Rome southwards.

thank for the input !......I'm leaning towards Ragusa area as it seems to suit my requirements 100%...in no particular order, near an airport, near a golf course, near the coast for fishing etc, near Marina di Ragusa and middle population towns/city's.i was looking at houses online ,i like the look of santa croce camerina ,but will be visiting later this year to have a good look around .probably rent for 6 months while we look for what we need ......cheers for now tony
