A few minutes walk from the main square, this 140 sqm apartment is perfectly located to enjoy the restaurants, cafes and shops of Arpino, a beautiful medieval hilltop town just 90 minutes from Rome.
The apartment is part of an ancient building, beautifully restored to a very high standard. The original coat of arms of the noble family is proudly displayed above the entrance of the stone door. Casa Serenca, the only apartment located on the top floor of the building, offers a breathtaking view over the historic centre of Arpino and beyond the valleys and mountain ranges. The entrance is by a lovely stone staircase. This apartment shares a charming courtyard and a small garden which is accessed by a central stone staircase.
The entrance to the apartment leads to the main living room, an elegant and sophisticated room with original oak paneled ceilings, perfectly restored and painted white. Two sets of French windows with shutters allow an uninterrupted panoramic view from the front of the room. An open fireplace is an additional advantage.
To the left of the lounge are two large rooms, both with similar oak paneled ceilings. The first room is currently used as a beautiful dining room; a false wall has been inserted to create a storage room, but this could easily be removed to create a larger dining room. The second room at the front of the apartment is currently used as a study and guest room.
To the right of the main living room a small corridor leads to the master bedroom and bathroom. With its location in the front corner of the building, this master suite offers a spectacular view of the old town.
An amazing feature of this apartment is the small hidden staircase which is accessed from the kitchen leading directly to another very private double bedroom again with a wonderful view of the old town of Arpino.
The apartment is in perfect state of maintenance, it has been completely renovated and rebuilt in 1998 by the main master builder of the area, Claudio Cinelli, who remains available to carry out any renovation work desired by the buyer.

ARPINO AND THE CIOCIARIA
Arpino is one of the major medieval cities on top of the area of Italy called Ciociaria, the name given to the fertile land that lies south of Rome but north of Naples, located inland among the hills in the heart of Italy.
The Ciociaria region is easily accessible from both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day of shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter trip takes you to the beautiful beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await you with horseback riding in the magnificent beech forests and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the summer heat. And at the other end of the temperature, although the Arpino itself is temperate, less than an hour's drive takes you to the winter ski slopes.
Often overlooked, both by tourists and foreigners looking for an Italian home, in favour of the more advertised regions of Tuscany and Umbria, Ciociaria remains for the most part an unspoilt jewel with beautiful scenery and medieval hilltop towns. A house or second home in the Ciociaria, in the hilly towns of Arpino, Veroli, Alatri or the gentle countryside surrounding them, will offer you an environment where over two thousand years of history combine with an idyllic Italian rural lifestyle, where you can still discover the "real" Italy and take time off from the crowds of the larger tourist cities, while being less than ninety minutes away from the centre of Rome or one of Rome's two airports.
