Questions Asked

The city of Lucca has always been my favourite. Not only because it is only 25 minutes away from our home and I go there at least two or three times a week, but also because you do not feel like a "tourist" there.

In this icy cold weather, hot drinks and comfort foods are a must. Preparing and consuming them are good ways to spend time when we cannot venture outdoors.

The cold weather is affecting most of Italy and creating difficulties concerning energy supplies. Russia, the most important supplier, has been reducing the provision of gas up to 30% due to increasing demand in their area.

Whenever we are in Italy, we love to visit antique and vintage markets and fairs, looking for that special piece that we would love to have. Sometimes, we find it...

One of my favourite activities in Italy is to visit those markets that sell antique and vintage items.

Some members may have noticed that I have been fairly quiet for the past month and a half. The reason for this was that we have been visiting our daughters who live in San Francisco (CA).

The new Italian government has been announced and it is obvious that we will have a fight between technocrats and politicians.

A lot has been written about the dangers of overheating Teflon coated cookware. Toxic fumes can be extremely dangerous for our health. Personally, I have never liked that type of cookware and I do not buy it anymore.

In another thread, we were discussing Tuscan herbs and "funghi porcini". Tuscany is a paradise for herb lovers and many varieties, such as rosemary, sage and "nipitella" grow wild.

These people will help http://www.gabriellistore.itTheir Bagni di Lucca workshop supplied and installed these windows in our home quite a few years ago and they are great. And I should add that it was not an easy job as it is a 17th Century stone building with very thick and irregular walls. Costs are high, but worth the money and you will save a lot on heating.

Terribly sorry to hear about your predicament. A highly valued member of this community and other forums is a lawyer called Charlotte Oliver. I know people who have been assisted by her and they were very happy. Here is her website http://www.oliverpartners.iti do hope that you will find a suitable solution.

Ethnically speaking you are Italian; however, there is a problem with the Trentino Alto Adige (and other areas, as well). The region was annexed in 1814 to the Habsburg Empire following Napoleon's defeat. It was re annexed to Italy in 1919. If your family left before 1920, they were considered Austrian citizens...although it is understandable that they felt totally Italian. Borders are politically drawn without taking into account people http://digginguprootsintheboot.com/key-criteria-for-italian-citizenship-jure-sanguinis/

Glad to help. The Italian Consulate in London can issue your Codice FIscale, which is absolutely necessary to do almost anything in Italy. And, although they prefer if you can give them an address in Italy, it is possible to do it anyway. Have a look at their Web page on the matter http://www.conslondra.esteri.it/consolato_londra/en/la_comunicazione/domande_frequenti/faq-codice-fiscale.htmli can remember that we did not have an Italian address when we applied for ours. Good luck with your plans! smiley

Italyprogetti is is asking correct questions. Ohmydays, I am guessing here, but I imagine that you obtained Italian Citizenship Jure Sanguinis in Australia. At that time, the relevant Italian Consulate would have registered you in their AIRE. I do not know whether you changed your registration when you moved to the UK. In any case, it is not a major problem. The Anagrafe of the local Municipality where you will reside and register will inform the relevant Consulate. As an Italian citizen you have the right to live and work in your country, as any other citizen, whether they were born there or acquired thebItalian Citizenship through Jure Sanguinis. Registration with the local Anagrafe will also allow you to obtain an Italian ID Card. If you do not have it already, you will need a Codice Fiscale, as suggested by Italyprogetti. You may already have it. Do you have an Italian passport?Ugo, I am not entering an argument with you. It is an exercise in futility. But do try not to confuse other members.

Ugo, sorry, but you seem to be unable to understand the difference between immigration, residency and citizenship and you are confusing the initiator of this thread. Read the instructions from Foreign Affairs (Farnesina) that I quoted. There is an Italian version if you need it. An Italian citizen does not need a residency visa or a work permit to live or reside in his/her own country.ANd your chauvinistic comments are not welcome.

UGo, he HOLDS dual nationality, both Australian and Italian, which s acceptable to both Australia and Italy. Whether he has lived in Italy or not is irrelevant. According to what he says, he is an Italian citizen and, consequently, has every right an Italian citizen has, including living in his own country.

Thu, 09/08/2016 - 08:42

Being an Italian citizen, you have residency automatically granted. All what you have to do is to go to the Anagrafe department at the Municipality where you will be residing and change your registration from the AIRE where you are currently registered to the local Anagrafe's registry. You will need your Italian documents. Here is the information http://www.esteri.it/mae/en/italiani_nel_mondo/serviziconsolari/aire.html

I think that this could help http://www.marone.gov.it/Pages/amministrazione_trasparente_v2_0/?Codice=AT.H0.20 as it contains all details regarding bank accounts held by the COmune. Also, make photocopies of both the fine papers and the transfer and send them by mail to the Comune to make sure that they know what it is all about.
