I was just reading someone called Pat Eggleton who wrote a patronizing article on the home page of this site concerning a proposal by a minister to shorten or do away with altogether with working lunch breaks.the writer may even have been to Italy

The other day our post lady delivered me a registered letter from Roma.it was from the ministero delle entrate...revenue again. As usual it was ,to say the least, almost incomprehensible .From what little one could glean it was concerning their "st

hi Anne,i've just spent a bit of time looking into possible solutions ie machines for this issue for myself.considering inclines are also part of the situation my conclusion seems to be a Japanese flail mower a cutting section wide 160cm an 8 hp engine 4 gear and rubber caterpillar tracks allowing it unlike most sit on stuff to go up quite extreme slopes in safety it's a walk behind  machine a bit bigger than your average moto zappa and the like .The best i've seen is a brand called OREC.This is a specific machine not a multi tasker but i have to say i was impressed and it could avoid the need to buy two machines ie a quad and a flail mower which as ram pointed out would be very pricey on their own anyway. The only downside to this is that..it costs little less than a basic Panda that is with IVA ..over Euro 4.000....i still may get one however as i've seen that it's robust flail allows you to go over branches/bushes/very long grass without difficulty or effort...anyway..

i used to live in milano and go to the stadium for football and concerts.BTW the stadium is IN Milano. i would advise to take the metro to Lotto and do the 5-8 minute walk to the stadium, there may well be a shuttle bus now but with all those people and waiting for the next one you'd be better off walking it.actually it's quite pleasant as it's an up market residential area close to the stadium not a slum or anything...whats the concert?

they should ask for an official invoice your friend should give them (the builders) exactly to whom it should be directed too complete address ( which can be in Germany) it should include (if applicable) the VAT number of the receiver or his fiscal code number. We recently had technicians from a solar power company staying here they required a regular invoice (not receipt) for their stay written out to their company in Germany.no problem ,As long as all the required data for the invoice of BOTH parties are clearly indicated on the invoice which has to have a clear description of the products/services charged for, indicate VAT,terms of payment etc which should be via bank anyway.I don't think that the German tax authorities would be "moved" by some scrappy hand written fiscal receipt from an Italian builder and would require the full monty,no?

if you don't feel like or don't want to do it yourself as sometimes some amount of earth moving can also be involved there are some small agricultural "engineering" companies who do this kind of work at a good price and well eg. clean the appointed piece of land/escarpment with a digger/excavator sometimes "pushing it back" making up and postioning and putting into place the gabbioni, they also do more eco friendly forms like pallisades ( trunks driven into the ground vertically) creating little flat terraces etc -quite nice.I have used a little company in comunanza for several tasks like putting in a ranch fence, putting in several hundreds of meteres of 2 metre high posts with steel wires for rasberry cultivation etc etc i can recommend him/them -nice guy-honest-does a good job and they'd  do your cages too send me a pm if your'e interested.

if you go,don't take the kids.if you're in the centre near the front you'll see your "section" but you can't leave,if the kids get thirsty they can't drink,if they need a toilet they can't go...if you feel bad..you can't get out till it's over.karen is right...the palio is not enacted for tourists it's a peculiarly highly followed local ritual quite violent on and off the track, expect many/most tourist shops to be closed for the event and in the evening even many restaurants too as everyone is busy with their street meals organized by the different quarters of the city...personally i've seen the palio twice the second time against my better judgement,i never want to go again.

there is a (small) hope that the externations of the mayor of firenze ( new rising star of the decrepit left wing in italy?) could create a situation in which negotiations between major parties could permit the election of the new president of the republic ( the name of emma bonnino has been ventilated which would be excellent) which would then permit the setting out of a new electoral system( for which there is a desperate need) after which new elections could be held which would then absolutely designate a new government..anyway an uphill journey..still (ma la speranza è l'ultima a morire) that was based on this morning's news..tomorrow could change again!)

like any reality programme that respects itself, you've got to have "stuff" for the next episode..... italian politics, our biggest reality show has just pulled out the second episode since the election.Following a couple of weeks of " Bersani the explorer" ,who actually achieved nothing...we now have " I DIECI SAGGI" , ten wise men(?)! so we'll see what that means...shortly.The right have already called this a coup d'etat....probably the left too and 5 stelle too..so it sounds exiting (if you don't fancy crying) gotta wait for the next episode now to find out 1. if we'll die off slowly but inexorably or 2. we'll go off in a bang or 3. someone...Merkel(?) cameron(?) putin(?) will rush in to save us from ourselves.

i pretty much agree with that, filide. especially the fact that the old order are giving "filo da torcere" in that they do not want to close the curtains on their hegemony of power (see money) in this country.
