i just saw your part concerning solar panels make sure the timing of their installation preceeds the final finish of the builders so you can exploit the presence of the scaffolding before they take it down it'll avoid further costs and solar panel people clambering around breaking newly placed tiles,it'll probably only be a question of a day or two maximum and a good relation with the builders will help with that..

hi,yes,i agree with whats been said.and certainly if you're not having to change main beams, most tiles etcc that'll make a difference to the price positively be aware hower that the roof has anyway to be completely stripped scaffolding erected with a regulamentary walk way round the whole roof with a drape of netting (health and safety) which is quite a serious cost. Make sure everything is done to rules including a full invoice including VAT...Roofs are visible and the "building site" could well be visited by the authorities to check the builders are"regular and above board",the invoice also provides you with legal proof that a certain job was done and paid for.it always amazes me how many people think they are being clever/shrewd and "doing it the italian way (?)" getting in some jobbing builder, paying in the black and then not being able to have any legal recourse when the roof leaks after a month.make sure the estimate is absolutely itemized indicating ALL phases of the task, cost per square metre of every task, the exact dimensions of the roof, timing etc signed off by the builders and you with a state of the art requisite along with conformity clause to all existing legislation.it sounds like your geometra is ok he should be able to take you thru the estimate, explain and check the prices are within the parameters of the regional price "list" for building works.

are not something to play around with or buying the cheapest available chinese rubbish (which can be very cheap) if you live in Amandola you'll need to think about thermal tyres (thats winter tyres) still technically oblogatory until i think around 15th april even though it's already spring. There are plenty of places to buy tyres in the area-Comunanza i believe it's on the right as you're entering comunanza from Amandola, on the far end of servigliano last road on the right before the bridge it's in the big shed with an external car wash (a bit expensive that one) i take the trouble to drive down to just before campiglione on the fermo road to RIFER GOMME it's a huge shed on the industrial area on the right usually has a lot of lorries getting their tyres fixed. This place has good prices, all brands and they are available and they take 2 minutes to change them you can pay by card, you get a receipt it's worth the extra mile.

forgot you don't need to eff about with route planners, sat navs it's just turn right in belgium for germany go for Frankfurt >Munchen>Bolzano>Verona > turn off for Firenze>Roma>Napoli then you're almost there hardly need a map for that

i always go thru  Germany, the best thing is that you can go fast (most of the time anyway, unless they decide to dig up the autobahns(which they do) also if you get tired of driving at 220kph just come off and stay in a gasthaus no tolls either so there are plenty of exits. As long as you stick to ham-cheese-beer if you have to eat you're ok...for the rest of the food wait till Bolzano.i love driving i envy you the excuse to do it to basilicata. My wife and i once drove +/- non stop to liverpool tiring but great.also no effing around with swiss rules and vignettes.

No the "rules" haven't changed they're just getting a little bit more complicated. The law,for example regarding the obligation to comunicate the details of guests, dates back to the Fascist period in the twenties. The best course of action, especially as you will be going to the comune about your civic number would be to get them  to inform you of what they require for your having a house rental or b&b etc as some of these things are dealt with at a comunal level .If you are setting up a business then it's a bit more complex and you'd be best advised to get an accountant to see you thru the fiscal law jungle...

As far as the numero civico is concerned, you might be pleasantly suprised to find you already have one even if you are unaware of it..just an hour or so in the comune or a couple of visits and you should be able to get that sorted out.if you have a good rapport with your geometra go with him that can speed things just as talking directly to the sindaco as opposed to a retard in the office. Telecom can be a little more complex however possible.Do not even try to do this kind of thing "on line" or over the phone  ..it just won't work.you'll have to try and get an appointment in Ascoli or wherever at the Telecom. They will have to do a sopraluogo at your place to see exactly where they'll have to go with their line/poles(not necessarily will it be anything to do with nearby lines it may come from somewhere else)only aftyer that you'll get their costing which has to be paid up front. Then the pratica will be put in their agenda of things to do,it took us all together around three months BUT they put in a new line thru 3 kms of steep woodland and proportionally to the job cost very little.you must make clear that you want both the land line and ASDL so you'll get a new kind of line, tell em you need it also for your business interests..it's worth the hassle we've had virtually no problems with land line dsl/phone.don't listen to brits who tell you you won't get a line!

the only "weak link" is using the banca posta rather than a proper bank, who do not care where you live and will fill in the form and ensure the direct debit has gone thru to enel/telecom and all the others.
