Well difficult to find your post amongst the spam created today! This reply may not be too helpful regards your questions, but may bring your post to others attention. Are there any cost of living advantages? Well it largely depends on how you prefer live and personal way of life. For example we like to grow veg here, but don’t when in the UK as we are not there often enough to do so. Overall we find living here in Italy a lot cheaper, but are not tax resident. Others we know who live very differently find it very expensive, but again it’s down to the way you live, for example a number we know choose the convenience of  a gas boiler, larger car etc.Hopefully others here will give you more detail. However, for what it’s worth, despite a lot of niggles we think it’s a lovely place to live.smiley

I thought when Cameron & Co promised to have a vote on staying or going, bring it on as the (right wing) press there would have it very wrong and there would be a resounding "stay" vote. The longer it has gone on the less I believe that now. Apart from the mess they have made of it so far, other ills have brought out the extreme views all over Europe and conspired to make matters all the worse. The 23rd of June may just be too far away, but I live in hope.

I do hope you are right Chris.

There you go Graham, so you are looking for the differences, if any, between Pescara, Teramo, Chieti and L'Aquila. I assume you have experience of running a B&B and some knowledge of the Italian language?

Hi Graham, best of luck in your venture. Not sure I know anyone here that knows specifically about B&B rules in Abruzzo. They may be the same throughout Italy, but I would be very surprised. Have you tried contacting the opposition i.e. someone there with a B&B? I do know of people on other forums that do have B&Bs here and they have posted help for many others.

Good luck on getting people to sign up Charlotte, it is a great cause. Totally agree also with your own view on staying together, unfortunately going back to the UK often, many more people there are now totally against the EU. Then again I do think the whole of Europe has become very parochial and narrow minded.

Possibly quite the opposite as there may be less passing of information directed under EU agreements. However as the tax agreements between the UK and Italy have absolutely nothing to do with the EU, they are bilateral,  there will be no difference because of any UK exit.  Unfortunately regardless of any of this, more taxation does look to be on the cards.

Have a look herehttp://www.casa.it/vendita-residenziale/in-fi%2c+toscana%3b/lista-1 , then pick up the Italian term for the type of rental you want and then you can search for other companies. Good luck.

Horrid that it will continue to dominate the news for so long! Thankfully we are not in the UK at the moment.. I would be very concerned if we were in your position at the moment, it was bad (Big) enough at the time buying here, add to it the unknown aspect of this vote and the result would have been awful. I need to think this one over a little, but as I’ve read many places elsewhere, I tend to agree it will make no difference in the end as many a non-EU person buys here now. Additionally, as has been said, many of the agreements will remain in place as bi-lateral agreements. Perhaps you should think of it along the lines “am I buying here because it’s in the EU or because you like Italy”.

Hi Suzi, and good luck in your search. I may be wrong, but would suspect if you live in the countryside here, then there will be hunters.... Lovely area by the way.
