Just thought I'd throw this out there on the off chance that someone has figured out how the payment part of the GSE portal works.

As the title says: Where did all the posts go? There was a thread running which became quite interesting re. the economic climate and I can't see it anywhere. Neither can I see my own posts in that thread in my history.

Since utility bills are such a popular subject, I thought it may be useful to transcribe some information from my last ENEL bill for anyone trying to figure out just how & why they're being charged what they are for their electricity.

I just thought I'd add this as it may save some a fair bit of cash in fines/trouble.I was pulled over around 1 month ago by the Polizia. It was all very routine they said although I was driving a UK-registered car.

You don't automatically have to complete a tax return however.  Depends on your work status.  As for not being resident, I assume you've already gathered that you'll need to spend 91 days (at midnight) of each year in the UK and maintain that average over 4 years to retain your British tax residency.  We even had to provide the dates of our travel to HMRC and in some cases they asked for our flight details to verify what we were claiming.  Now Italian tax residents, life is somewhat simpler - but more expensive!

Sounds to me like you need a thorough medical! I've spent plenty of time in places with greater daily temperature variations than 20 degrees.  After several years here, I can't say I've noticed a single condition out of those mentioned affecting me.  Are you certain you've caught these mysterious Italian-only illnesses that don't appear to affect the vast majority of the world's population ;)

Hmmm...solar switch.  Sounds interesting :)  We've just had a 6Kw array installed and Sagriasolar's figures are correct re. panel price.  If you're going to do it though, you really have to get a move on to get the most out of the incentives as they're dropping quickly at the moment.  In January they'll drop 2 cents and then they should remain unchanged until June at which point they'll drop another 2 cents.  Whilst for many, the 'planning' application is relatively straight-forward & quickly approved, ENEL are a completely different kettle of fish!  We waited almost 3 months for them to simply survey the line to tell us we can actually do it!  Since then another month has passed and we're still not actually grid-tied - still awaiting the 'appointment.' sigh...!

I have no problem reading or understanding english and I read that the same way ;)  So, people around Bagni di Lucca aren't welcoming or fun.  Barrel of laughs there it seems :)

It's simply too much effort to simply stop by for 5 minutes every day (as I used to previously) and catch up/comment on something.  This is simply tiresome.  I never look backwards in IT-world, I love progress.  This isn't progress.

I've used the internet since around 1990 (on a very slow 9600 modem) and the days of bulletin boards - 'cos we couldn't download images back then.  Forums work.  I've seen a few great forums move to new 'community' sites like this has & they've all gone down the drain - losing the very user-base that kept them interesting.I find this particularly hard work to browse through - it's hard on bandwidth and half of the page is taken up needlessly with graphics and gimmicks.  The CSS implimentation appears to have problems here and there as well since on Firefox 3.0.10 (OSX) I have over-lapping columns on certain pages.  It's disappointing imo - no longer a place I can quickly login to and scan through for interesting threads.
