We think our desktop is nearing the time for replacement, and we need to have a machine running on UK/English software. Have done some research but so far have not found any company that will supply from UK to Italy.

Just a quick question, does anyone know if you are able to register your Italian address with your UK bank account. We have read that this is possible but have also heard differently.

Would it be possible to release monies from your current UK dwelling. This might be easier. Dealing with a known bureaucracy.

Hi Sprostoni, I am in the same position as you. I had my UK licence "Italianised" a couple of years ago.  I did it through a driving school in Communanza. The chap there said to come back about 3 months before it was due to expire and he would arrange for the process to issue a new, Italian licence, as I cannot renew the UK one. I do have diabetes so obviously I will require a medical on that front. It was funny, because when I told him I had diabetes, he said that there were no diabetic Italian drivers around!!!!  Weird!   I can give you his details if you wish. A few other people have used him as well for things relating to re-registering.

We had an account with Banco Popolare d'Ancona but changed to BP becuase of the high charges, V satisified with the BP accout. We are with TI/Alive for our broadband. Pretty good as far as we are concerned and we are on it for about 12 hours a day. With ref to Tartuffa comments about complaints with TI, you can sign up for all sorts of services on the Web, but  they don't appear to let you unsubscribe via the web! This may account for some of difficulties people have had with them. TI also offer an "all-you-can-eat" service for international calls to west Europe and USA for €10,00 per month. If you make a few cals to the UK alone each month, this is quite good value.   Buon Viaggio!

I think a lot of people now use Facebook for their social networking stuff and this site, as mentioned above, as a source of practical information on things Italian. Useful.
