We are just about finished with our house and are looking to let it out for holidays. We know we will have to pay tax and intend to declare any income in u.k.

Well, nearly at the end of our  build and down to the nitty gritty bits. It seems that the venerable (and very ugly) corrugated iron garage that was on site when we bought is not acceptable.

I am hoping some of the friends in the Northern Tuscany area ( Group - what Group?) might be able to help. We are arriving this Thursday in the Bagni di Lucca area and need to buy some RAT POISON on the way in.

Hi everyone The lovely Ian from Euroman and van is delivering to us in our area (Bagni di Lucca) around the 19th September. I believe he may have space for a quarter load going down, not sure about going back.

Have been back one week from our trip to Bagni. The new house is looking good, we were all ready to put up the spiral staircase BUT... one step missing!

Hello everybody, and welcome to the newcomers - it looks like we will be meeting more Stranieri on our next visit. Advice needed - we usually transfer money to our bank in Italy in sterling - and get whatever the rate is over there on the day.  An

A few weeks ago somebody was talking about a business transporting to and from Italy. I have lost the name - of course. We are looking to send a small load down to Bagni di Lucca to coincide with our visit in the first week of July.

Just a thought Jane   Do you think part of the problem might be  P.... envy?  After all, a Harley is a very macho machine!!  Get an electric bike, it screams inadequacy to some.  (Tongue firmly in cheek here)  Best wishes and good luck.

What a horrid situation!   Not sure if this helps but i did hear that, as long as it had wheels (i,e, moveable) you might be o.k. Am sure some of the seasoned community members can throw more light on this but  - best of luck1

Thanks everyone. We are indeed resident in U.K.  I think as we are at the beginning of this adventure we can play it by the book, both here and in Italy and keep a very close eye on any changes in Italian law.   Thanks Sebastiano for the details on registering guests - will certainly do it, if the occasion ever arises! Brancusi Just from personal experience. We are in the equivalent of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and our geometra/architect has been very insistent that nothing can be changed once plans are finalised. We also found that there were stringent restrictions on what we could have, because our property was originally a castagna (i.e. not a dwelling house). So, no external shutters, no small balcony etc.. I think your geometra should guide you on this and, as the others say, try to get what you want before you start. Best of luck Fabbriche

think, as others have indicated, that the red tape and paperwork involved in any transaction in Italy are massive and fairly immoveable. If you start tinkering around with a formal request which is in progress I suspect that the whole thing would collapse and you would have to start again.   As all of the paper work for our application has gone astray once already, we are taking no chances. If our Architect suggests this is the right thing to do then I guess we go with his knowledge! Mind you, how long it will take when we do request the upgrade.......!   Best wishes Fab briche

For what it's worth... we are just about to have our permanent supply put on which is to be 3kw. Our Architect has said not to request 6kw until installation is complete. Then start a new request!   Fabbriche

That is interesting Flip. I think I have not explained myself very well!  It is not we who want to get rid of the garage. Our geometra/architect has said from the start that the structure, left by the previous owner would have to go when the project was finished. Whether this is because the previous owner did not have permesso we don't know. Geometra says we could probably have a wooden shed somewhere else so really not sure of the thinking behind it.  Whaever happens, we will need some storage. Perhaps we should ask for more details - and not accept fate quite so readily! As always, you lot know your stuff.   Thanks   Fabbriche
