Tried downloading the Poste Pay app on my i pad this morning. No luck, as my Apple account isn't registered in Italy! However I do have an Italian mobile phone, so dowloaded the app on that instead.
Yes, I used to bank with Intesa San Paolo and their Mastercard was free. It was just that the bank was inconvenient to get to. Wish I had stayed with them now, as my new bank seems stuck in the 1960s.
Reading all these posts has made me very thankful that I didn't have any problems. I just pay online through the Enel site, and it works without any problems. However I tried to register with SisalPay in order to pay all utilities, but it wouldn't accept my codice fiscale. If in Italy though, one can also pay bills at the supermarket or bar.
I had the same problems with 4 unsuccessful visits to ASL. However I got my Italian Citizenship last week, and was told that my health card would be in the post straight from Roma.
Bank accounts cost money in Italy, so I keep my transactions to a minimum. You can pay your utility bills online for free.
My Builder only swears in English, and we communicate on Google Translate. He's done a superb job for myself and my friend, so I would recommend getting the best person for the job - rather than their linguistic skills. :)
Thank you for this information. I've been living permanently in Italy for 16 months, and was told this week by an English woman about the different Enel tarrifs. I'm now only doing washing and hoovering on Sundays, and have a timer on the water heater. I hope not to be in "fuel poverty" for much longer!
