How did we feel about Michael o'Leary's view about flying through volcanic ash? Would we be happy to fly with Ryanair as we'd have more chance of arriving at our destination, or more likely to fall out of the sky?

Best of luck, can only suggest what has already been mentioned here. If the little blighters are pale or transparent they sound more like sand flies rather than midges which, at least in the UK, are black. Sand flies can carry disease so take precautions and stuff to put on after. Good luck!
Karen has probably done her trip, but whatever car you drive won't make any difference if you drive in red circle areas or exceed speed limits. It can take a year for them to catch up with you as we found.
Just popped back for another look. Most amusing if very childish. We are now going to Rhodes in May, not as a result of above punch up. I will keep the useful tips for the future. Ciao tutti.

She hadn't been feeling good and saw the doctor in November and things happened very quickly: diagnosed with lung cancer that had already spread into bones and other places. Decision made to return to UK, Gordon's brother and sister inlaw moved them into their place in Edinburgh, doctor visited and she went into hospital, she had a broken hip as well by then. Se died at their home about two weeks after returning. All very shocking and sad. Funeral was today. Gordon will return to Lucca and make decisions, it has all happened so fast.
I would just wish people wouldn't use Ryanair and he went bust, but I suppose he has routes others don't.
I have a look in from time to time but moved elsewhere a long time ago...
