How did we feel about Michael o'Leary's view about flying through volcanic ash?  Would we be happy to fly with Ryanair as we'd have more chance of arriving at our destination, or more likely to fall out of the sky?

We are thinking of going to Sardinia for a holiday in June and wonder which is the best bit to aim for.  Have heard of Costa Esmerelda, any views on it?

Trip Report: Positano May 2009  After our adventures in Rome and Avellino Province in Campania (see previous trip reports) we moved on for the main part of our holiday, some serious chilling out on the beach.  We left our Agriturismo near Contrado

Trip Report Campania May 2009  We drove south from Rome stopping for lunch in Cassino, and drove up to the Abbey but everything was shut for lunch, a spectacular setting and many reminders of the conflict from WW2.We somehow missed our turning and

There doesn't seem to be a Campania section any more on this forum, I did a lot of research for our holiday on it....needless to say we had a great time, though got lost in Avellino every time we went there, it became our least favourite place tha

We spent a weekend in Lucca and loved it, must get back some time.  When we stayed in Tuscany we stayed just outside Volterra which was quite a handy base, though probably not as far north as you would like.  Have a great trip!

We were there in May, did find Rome very expensive.  We didn't get the card as we were not sure we would get benefit from it.. We did use the red 110 hop on hop off bus first 24 hours to get the hang of the place, then walked and taxid after that, were staying in historic centre so most was in walking distance.  We had a great time, but I think the climate in May was just about perfect.  I did get a lot of info from Tripadvisor forum before we went.We drove south after that, only stopped in Cassino as it featured in father=-in=law's WW2 experience so can't comment on Lazio.Have a great trip!

To the forum.  We spent part of our holiday in May this year in Campania and visited Salerno and Paestum, there are some lovely places there - and some poverty we noticed.  I did write a trip report which should be under the Campania heading if you want to have a look.Your photos are lovely, hope you have many more happy trips there.

Hmmmm good question, I can't find a list of members. There is a thread they started about moving to Campania a couple of days ago, find that and then you can send them a private message by clicking on their name...We had fantastic lunch in Nusco at Locando di Bu... best wishes to Antonio if you see him!  And wonder if anyone in the area can tell us the story behind the mysterious war memorial in Leoni.Best of luck....

We noticed in Rome some black and white stripey things on the roads which were obviously targets of some kind...

Which bit of Campania are you in?  In our limited experience English speaking is pretty thin on the ground.  There do however appear t be quite a few American house owners in Avellino province, maybe try Tripadvisor (if I may be so bold/traitorous) ?

An Italy loving friend grew bourgainvillae (sp?) very successfully in the channel islands in a conservatory.I would think it is shelter from cold winds and where as much sun as poss will shine on it.I always feel happy when I see it, I know I am in the right sort of place if it is growing!
