Has anyone had any experience with the Lycee in Florence to relate please?  The dilemma with further education for an 11 year old boy looms.  Already fluent in Italian it would certainly be a great asset for him to go to a French school.

Just out of interest are there any Scottish reeling clubs operating out there? I'm starting one in Umbertide where there seem to be a few enthusiasts and others willing to have a go.

The Beeb site has an article on exceptional glacial melting going on right now making the 2012 records show that something really different is under way.

The Perseids appear to come from the direction of the Persius constellation so if you look generally North or better still point your i-Pad you'll get there. There are also a few from Delta Aquarid which come across from the South I think.

The local comune recently started a purge on stranieri who had not got an 'agibilita' for their property. Large fines were being dished out so we started to get organised.

Terry ... Alessio and I are due to have an eco-chat shortly after I sent him my latest Newsletter which features an article on how to make an Airsource heat pump run for the same price as wood - a sort of eco-doing nothing. So thanks for the prompt ... PM me if you'd like it too.

Well spotted Sir TK    These guys are 3 mins down the road from me. Alessio is a real star and also has a hilarious band which does lively, risque and comic gigs for parties etc. He has also been noticed by one of the big Amercican film studios for his film making so he is very accomplished. The house has a proper recording studio and the odd pop group come over and use it. He ran a restaurant too for a while and that was different too as he would feed and drink you without keeping the score and then relieve you of exactly €20 a head.  If he's going all eco I'd better show him round my zero-cost installation here. Thanks for pointing him out.

AndyT, I've seen the GSE computerised nonsense a few times.  If you find there are some high payments with matching negatives to reverse them off again it's because someone elses payments have been put on and off again. In my 2 cases the final result was fair and honest but I graphed the payments for a friend once and there was definitely an unusual kink in the graph.  I would always graph your income to spot any strange activity. Also the bank once credited one of my payments to another account which happened to be sthe same friend so we sorted it out.

stand by to see some mad stuff ... it must the regs that make the electricians put a switch at EVERY door way even if there is a switch just a foot or two away that does the same job. The best tip I can give you is to ask for a separate light circuit to lighting sockets in eack corner of your salone (where table lamps tend to be). Then with one switch all the table lamps will go on instead of groping round them all trying to remember where the switches are.

... when you install 3-phase is the rate the same as the 1-ph supply but just allocated to each phase? I've always believed that to be the case as my bills show 2 spare phases uncharged. I've been told that Enel applies regional variations but find that hard to believe.

Sabina - I once did a model comparing usage vs. local rainfall patterns and found that for a family of 3 we'd need about 30,000 litres to store the roof production.... needless to say this does not go in the loft as it's about half a swimming pool. There is usually a local geologist to track down and ask about well siting and depth ... the guy who comes with the twigs is good for a laugh but seems to point to the place where it would be easiest to park the well digging truck.... try to keep a straight face when he swings the bob to show the depth.

What you do is go to the plumbers and get those heavy steel pipe fittings. With lots of T's, elbows and nipples you can assemble the shape you want. You will need to overlay 2 comb like assemblies together if you want a close pitch between the grate pipes.  No need to weld or seal at all if you are blowing the air into the manifolds. 1/2" bsp might be the size to allow for more branches. You'll find the air coming out will be very hot.
