sorry if its off topic but as Gala mentioned I have been using Polarmin cream for years but for the dreaded mosquito bites (or the very small similar to midge bites) having tried at least a dozen others. Just a thought if others like myself get regularly eaten alive.

Well initially many years ago I came to Italy on my own but I did have a job. Years later I returned and eventually married (an Italian) but I would think the difficulties of adjusting to a new country, culture and language exist with or without a partner. Maybe it's easier if you are outgoing and flexible in your outlook and expectations.

I could recommend most books by the above author  Beppe Servegnini  available in English and italiano- also very knowledgable on English and American culture - witty and serious at the same time.
