Sorry to hear that, can you think of anything you did which upset them? (A glass of vino and a chinwag might improve the situation.)

Man and digger available for around 40 euros an hour in our area (Latiano), although Vic Roncone is near Martina and he may be a bit cheaper if he has availability. Vic was around 120 a seven hour day when we last used him. You should post on the ' Puglia Posse' for more localised suggestions. Don't rush into anything though, take your time and plan carefully. Good luck, Billy

Bumper crop this year, and we are harvesting and pruning at the same time. Our olive oil is awesome.

Got rid of my pole saw, a ladder and the dinky one hander works a treat.

Usual rules of pruning apply. Dead, diseased and crossing, aim for the goblet shape. Pruning for maximum yield of olives and maximum yield of firewood seem to be mutually exclusive. We err on the firewood side. olive trees bounce back remarkably well. You'll need a one handed chainsaw, my Stihl is great. Always plenty of folks around to give advice! Good luck! Billy

Depending on the land I'd say 4 hours with the digger at 50-60 an hour, then maybe 600-800 for the concrete tanks, 250 for the pipes and finally the labour costs. Total, 2000 max plus the permissions, It's quite a simple job. I did one for our new bathroom not too long ago. I did most of the work myself, but the digger can do loads in a few hours. Don't put toilet paper down the drain though or you'll have problems.

Rent, don't bother about aircon, the winters are pretty tough so think about insulation and heating. We've been here a few years now and it ain't sunny all year round!

Are you moving alone Kimba? Basilicata is in the sticks and maybe not the best place to move to. I'd be more inclined to test the water further north.Wish you all the best with your move whatever you decide. (We are in Puglia by the way.) Ciao Billy&Martine
