Our friend was stopped by a policeman yesterday in her car.

Hmm. I'm terribly sorry about this post, partly as it makes me look disorganised and rubbish. Basically, I agreed to help someone move house in the Appignano area, on 26 April. My diary for that day reads: "Appignano removal, Teresa".

My mate Neil is about to drag the van and I up to Obi, in order to puchase a concrete mixer. But he'd much rather buy one second-hand, for obvious reasons.

Buongiorno Are there any members of forum living in the Civitanova/Morrovale/Montelupone/Potenza Picena sector? While I'm very aware that one's social network should be extended primarily into the local community I have a slight dilemma.

Goodness. In an effort to prove to the world that a motoring journalist can change its spots I just started a food writing blog, with a tenuously Italian twist, given current Marchegiana residence.

Hope all's well.

When booking flights via Ryanair, I found that departure from some airports are cheaper than the others. I'm going back to the UK next week and the cheapest flight from Ancona (single/one-way) is about €200 excluding taxes.

My post regarding business website building has been deleted. Apologies for not knowing the rules. Tsk!Tsk! Naughty corner for thee...

A recent job prompts this post. We have just transported a gate to Le Marche for a client, which he purchased from the company listed below.

Montelupone has a tip, still. It's a bit of a trek from Amandola but worth bearing in mind. No problems with what you bring or how you do it - we use my Sprinter van for tip runs and unlike the UK, we can wander straight in, dump the horrific furniture/rubble etc from the farmhouse and have a lovely chat with the friendly Moroccan chap working there. It's down the hill, opposite the football pitch.

How much do you need to re-register? If you are likely to return annually to the UK, keep the car registered there. Several reasons for this: Pragmatically, you'll attract minimal attention from bored local constabulary if you wear foreign plates - the hassle involved makes it not worth the candle to stop you and pass the time of your day. Re-registration is a drawn-out business, ongoing bollo is expensive and de-registering the thing in order to sell it anwhere but in Italy is a serious pain in the neck. If your car is RHD you'll find it hard to sell on in Italy. You can insure the car for Italian use via Italsure or similar, regardless of what nation's plates are on it.

The Grauniad reported with glee that many Italians' principle concern was that taking a shopping bag shopping isn't very stylish. Although quite how lugging free plastic carriers around is any more or less groovy is a matter for debate… Apparently a small boom is expected in the sales of 'cool' shopping bags in fake animal prints. That's cool as in literally. It seems that you can now source a leopard-print shopper that contains a special inner compartment for frozen goods. Big cat, little gateau. The whole idea is so ridicuously 1983 that it's sure to catch on. I shall be tiger-print hunting on the streets of Civitanova from now on, although down here the fur is quite likely to be real. Retailers are anticipating a roaring trade, said a spokesperson for the local market, spuriously. I popped into a local boutique myself only yesterday and asked to look at the fine big cat-style trolley on wheels hanging behind the counter. But the assistant said she wouldn't take that lion down. She wasn't feline up to it. I was furrious and pelted her with insults. Etc…

Good plan. Thanks for the suggestion!

The passing of the Giro will be something worth seeing. So much so that my brother is coming out to see us when the race passes near Morrovalle/Montelupone. Certainly advisable to take a day off work and make a trip of it. This is the kind of thing that the Italians do brilliantly, and it would be a shame not to witness it.

Answer to: Wi Fi

It would be worth checking the coverage, as Flip suggests. 3 Italia's mobile and 3g coverage is sporadic at best in our locale (Eastern Marche), and locally Vodafone is the new king of the hill for broadband. If this gives 3 Italia impetus to improve, hurrah. If it wakes Telecom Italia from its enchanted sleep of semi-function, then double huzzahs with cheeries on top...

All the above advice holds water, as it were. We're currently in one of those wonderful apartments on Civitanova Marche's Lungomare. Essentially built for summer occupation only, they're built of 1960s concrete. In winter the warm, moist air resulting from breathing, moving, heating, cooking and washing things hits the cold, uncaring concrete of the outer walls and condenses in short order. The result is beastly muffa, or mould. With a swiff of something toxic it can be beaten back, but not for long. So now we open every window and door the second any hint of sunshine appears. Largely, this is helping. Were we here long-term however, I'd be thinking about lining the walls with something that didn't get so cold.

Hi Henry Edcro1 is correct with the above email, so thanks to them for posting it. I'll PM you. I've tried to find the relevant emails in my account but failed… Anyhow, FYI I'm sat right now at my laptop plotting my next run to the UK and back to Le Marche. Looks as though it'll be around the tail end of January. Drop me an email or a call and we can resume our conversation. There be info on the following website, also: www.philipwhitefreight.com Best regards Phil White

Thanks for this, Pauline and Annec. I think I missed this post while off on the road. Steve, I'll pop a PM to you now to give you some price guidelines. Best regards and Buon cappodanno a tutti, Phil.
