If you are near Sulmona this weekend, why not come along and enjoy the Ovidian themed weekend of fun and entertainment?  There are displays, exhibitions, tastings, competitions and some great shopping opportunities.

As promised, a post that may be helpful to others. We bought a LHD UK reg car last year and are now trying to re-register it here. Fingers crossed we are all sorted now but we have had to jump a hurdle which we had not anticipated.

We've realised that it may be another 3 years before this one has a home with us so perhaps it's time to pass it on. It's an AEG Favorit 40850. No longer in production but spare parts are available if necessary. Bought in 2005.

We're off back to the UK for a visit by car and we'd like to stay in or near the city. Although I'm happy to do the usual searches on-line it would be helpful to have any ideas from Forum members.

Our lease is up at the end of April and we are putting out feelers.  We've spoken to our local agents, asked our friends and colleagues, and we'll start to call the numbers on a selection of bright orange Affitasi notices that we've seen around to

Yes there are a load of regulations but they're not too onerous and there are some advantages to B&B which is why your comercialista probably suggested it.  Go to the person at your comune who is responsible for commerce / new business and they should give you some guidelines. The rules vary from region to region and probaby from province to province too.

Designated parking right outside the hotel, quite easy to find, decent breakfast and a choice of places to eat all within walking distance along the river.

We stayed here last year and it was pretty good:http://www.ibishotel.com/hotel-directory/gb/europe/belgium/dinant/dinant-hotel.htm Not sure if it will work for you but it did for us.

I'm delighted that you had a good time!  There is a great guide book on Abruzzo published by Bradt if you fancy exploring some more.

The whole area is beautiful but C di S itself may be a bit of a disappointment as it was badly bombed in the war.  A couple of nice churches though!  The roads are clear but there are tons of snow piled up roadside still to be shifted - not a pretty site and it does make it hard to get around as a pedestrian.  I think all the resorts are doing well and all pistes operational.  Don't forget to check out Pescocostanzo too - it is delightful.  The most extensive network of pistes is at Roccaraso although many of the smaller stations are now joined into it via a lift or two.  If the weather isn't perfect then come and have a look around our lovely Sulmona!  You may not read this until you get back Charlotte but I didn't want you to think that no one cared enough to answer you.  You gave me some good advice when I needed it 2 years ago.  Thank you.

An open key is exactly that - you choose the provider according to the best deal available when you need it.  You'd need to go to an independent phone store though.

Before you look at specific deals I would wait to see if you have decent coverage where you live here in Italy. It's not a given that all networks are equally good anywhere in the country.   If you don't have a regular place to stay then you might need to chop and change.  If you get an 'open' key then you can switch providers as often as you like.

In our area the schools always have exactly one week from the Wednesday / Thursday before to the Tuesday / Wednesday after.  That pretty much fits with the above as Venerdi Santo is the 6th.

I think by far the best solution is to decide on a general area first and then come and talk to the agents that deal with property in that area.  Location first, specific house second.  Certainly in our area the agents generally use the internet badly, almost as an afterthought, not as an essential form of marketing.  New properties take a long time to go up, old ones don't come down, the pics are dreadful and info more than a little sketchy.  What you're describing doesn't seem like the obvious choice for a holiday home either so you'll need Italian rather than British agents primarily.
