The New York Film Food Festival awarded one of its prestigious filmmaking awards to an Italian video, “That’s Mandorlato.”

The video, made by Aromicreativi agency for Casa del Dolce from Cologna Veneta (Verona), received the Raw Best Food Porn Award.

The video shows the process of making Mandorlato from scratch. Mandorlato is a dessert invented in the first half of the 19th century right in Cologna Veneta, and since then the sweet specialty has made the little town famous in the world.

In the 1970s, Giovanni Fausto Bertolini, who runs Casa del Dolce along with his four children, began producing “finissimo mandorlato” (the finest mandorlato), putting the utmost care in the selection of raw materials and paying careful attention to the various processing stages. He still supervises the entire production process today.

The "That’s Mandorlato" video won for its ability to tell the story of a local traditional product that is able to renew itself thanks to modern technologies without forgetting its own history and identity.
