It has been referred to as the “Disneyland of food”, and it will be established in a town often considered the gastronomic capital of Italy, Bologna.

F.I.CO. (Fabbrica Italiana Contadina - Agricultural Italian Factory) is going to be a 10,000 square meter space devoted to food and wine, with stables, aquariums, fields, gardens, food labs, grocery stores, and  restaurants to produce, research and teach all about food.

The park aims to show visitors the entire food production chain, explains Andrea Segré, the director of Caab, the company behind the project, which is also backed by Oscar Farinetti’s Eataly. “From the land to the table” is its motto. For example, Segrè says, to show how one of the signature products of Italy – pasta - is made, the food park will feature a wheat field, a mill, a pasta factory, a shop selling all types of pasta, and a restaurant to taste it – from the land to the table.

The 8-hectare park will work like a real agricultural farm, with rotations of foodstuff according to the seasons.

“Bologna is food,” Segré says.

The park is scheduled to open in November 2015 in the outskirts of Bologna.

''We want people from around the world to play with this magical thing, Italian food,'' Farinetti has said speaking about this project.
