Those who come for a short time have it easy, because everything is something to discover...and then they return home with lots of great stories. Those ex-pats who stay for a longer amount of time and make Italy a life-long home should probably focus on making Italian friends, picking up some of the Italian habits and learning the language really well. Try to appreciate the experience even though there will be ups and downs. This is a fascinating country with wonderful people and great food; at the end of the day it's one of the best places to live!!
