Campobasso (Molise)

Campobasso is a city in southern Italy, the capital of the region of Molise and of the province of Campobasso. It is located in the high basin of the Biferno river, surrounded by Sannio and Matese mountains. Campobasso is renowned for the craftsmanship of blades (including scissors and knives), a fact well documented since the 14th century. It is also famous for the production of pears and scamorza (cheese). One of the mains attractions of Campobasso is the Castello Monforte, built in 1450 by the local ruler Nicola II Monforte, over Lombard or Norman ruins. The castle has Guelph merlons and stands on a commanding point, where traces of ancient settlements (including Samnite walls) have been found. The current construction is the result of later rebuilding after the earthquakes of 1456 and 1805.

I'm registered as an Italian living abroad under A.I.R.E. and receive vote by mail ballots every so often to vote in Italian national elections.

Hi all,

I am asking a question that has been asked, no doubt, many times. I plan on getting the ferry to Cherbourg from Ireland in June and travelling to Molise. I will have 2 children and a dog for company. Any advice on routes, stop overs, etc. would be gratefully appreciated.

Dealing with paying bills continues to befuddle. I just received a water bill for my house from a bill paying company hired by my comune. This company is known as PagoPa. Because I'm not in Italy full time, the only option I can use is paying by credit card.
