New App Will Allow Visitors to the Colosseum Faster Entry

New entrance e-tickets to the Colosseum have just been introduced, allowing visitors to skip the lines using their smartphones. Starting this week, the thousands of visitors who line up daily outside the legendary Roman amphitheatre will simply need a credit card.

Here's how it works: download an app that reads bar codes and then scan your phone at one of the many QR codes locations placed around the Colosseum. That will redirect you to a mobile page where you can buy your entrance ticket with your credit card. The ticket is 12 euros, plus one euro service fee. You then simply show your ticket from your device.

The Colosseum is one of Italy's most visited monuments, getting up to 24,000 visitors a day. Organizers say the move will be helpful to speed up the lines.
