Siena Celebrates Summer Solstice with Art & Music Night Event

Siena is preparing to celebrate the summer solstice with the third edition of “Lux in Nocte 2014 – Art, Faith, Music and Dance on the longest day of the year”.

During the night event, the monumental complex of the Cathedral of Siena, which includes the Cathedral itself, the Crypt, the Museo dell'Opera, the Baptistery of St. John’s and the Libreria Piccolomini will be exceptionally open and guides will be available to take visitors on a journey through the masterpieces of Italian art in Siena, which features among others Donatello, Pinturicchio, Raphael, Michelangelo, Bernini. The visits will be accompanied by music and dance with several bands and troupes performing inside the monuments.

The Facciatone and the Gates of Heaven will also be open for unusual and beautiful night views of the city and beyond (these are accessible only by advance reservation).
