Amici di Italy Magazine,
We are working on many new ideas for ITALY Magazine and today we are thrilled to present you with our new logo!
This will be used on our new website design which goes live next Thursday. We can't wait for you to find out 'cosa bolle in pentola' (what we got cooking)!
With all this novelty for the magazine our editorial theme this week is exactly that - new things. In particular, given the time of year: New Wines, New Prosciutto and New Films.
"A San Martino ogni mosto diventa vino" (On S. Martin's day every wine must turns into wine).
On the 11th of November Italy celebrates San Martino, St. Martin, which is also the right moment of the year to try "novello" wine (new wine) as we explained in our feature dedicated to this special day of the year. And we suggested greco wines, in particular, as they are some of the most popular white wines to consume in autumn months while the grapes are in full harvest.
While we support Italy's fights against counterfeit Italian food, it is refreshing to meet a producer who was inspired by Parma, where he lived for three years, to try to make 'prosciutto crudo' in Iowa who is actually honest about the origin of his product. Herb Eckhouse's goal was never to replicate Italian prosciutto; rather, it was to make a distinctive American prosciutto and this would have not been possible without the help of Italian expert.
Fishing for new interesting movies was easy this week as Rome Film Festival opened on the 8th. We talked to Jonathan Demme, who won an Oscar in 1991 for directing The Silence of the Lambs, about is his latest movie Fear of Falling, which premiered at the Festival. We also asked him about his love for Italian culture and his documentary with Italian composer Enzo Avitabile, Music Life.
Finally, keep sending those nominations in for ITALY Magazine Blogger Awards, you just need to fill this form. We will soon reveal the list of the many interesting ent.
The November ITALY Magazine Calendar is ready to be downloaded.
A presto!
