We are looking for a space, drive, garage or just a bit of land to rent to park our car long term near enough to the airport to get a 10 to 15 min taxi ride so its convenient as we go back and forth between Sicily and UK. David

Ok now normal service seems to be back to normal ie ryanair flying into Palermo airport, we need to find a parking space close to the airport. We are looking for a space at a private house or villa or a safe compound or garage on a long term rental basis. Somewhere that we can easily park our car that stays in Sicily and get to the airport and pick it up when we go back to Sicily. Perhaps someone has space we could rent? Any good ideas would be appreciated

We had a budget to hopefully get one floor finished but these prices blow it right out of the water and I would rather stop now than spend another heap of cash and still not be able to live in it through lack of habitabilita.

Just had a quote for balony railings that wrap around two sides of the house at nearly 4000 euros although they are about 16 metres long in total plus one storey scala. this seems a lot. Anyone got an idea what we should be looking to pay per sq mtr?

Thanks, Alan H The problem is getting to trapani airport for say a 10am flight when the trains dont run through the night or early enough for us to make it without an overnight stay near the airport. The perfect solution would be if we could park or garage our car at or very close to the airport when we return to England and conveniently pick it up when we return, complete freedom. I say rent rather than buy a garage because if Ryanair or some other airline ie easyjet take up the Stansted to palermo route that Ryanair dropped( it was always full) we would then be looking to rent a garage or space near to Palermo airport. Regards David

I know Ryanair are cheap and cheerful, but untill last year it was a cheap and cheerful and very convenient bus from Stansted to Palermo. We used this route dozens of times over the previous 2 yrs. Then they dropped without warning, the Palermo destination in favour of Trapani, which is much further west, very inconvenient for anyone with property along the northern coast of Sicily, Ie palermo, Trabia, Caccamo, Cefalu etc. So now although we travel an extra 20 mins Uk end to gatwick, we get easyjet direct to Palermo. I reccomend any one that used the old route to do the same and Drop Ryanair like they dropped us. Hopefully someone will take up the route again from stansted as it was always full and must have made money.

The previous comments on not needing mot to be insured is interesting. It would be great not to have to bring the car back for mot, but also you could not tax the car. If there was a proper and legal solution to keeping a UK car in Italy without the need to return it every year for the mot, it would be fantastic at saving the time money and inconvenience of doing so. Untill a proper solution can be found, I will make the yearly trip wothwhile by bringing in things I want from UK. Regards David and Maria
