Most of my Italian friends would simply go for an Aperitivo or an Aperitivo Rinforzato (Strengthened - Meaning with more food served alongside drinks). However, if you are younger and trendier you would rather meet your friends for an Apericena, which, quite simple, is an Aperitivo Rinforzato with a cool name. I think 'apericena' was born a few year after its english friend Mr 'brunch', and exactly like its friend, it combines two different elements aperitivo and cena (aperitif and dinner). Whether you call it with its retro name or its contemporary version, the all-Italian ritual of going for an Aperitivo is something you should not miss while visiting Italy. You can get your favourite cocktail or try new ones, have a taste of different kinds of food, even those you would have never dared ordering a full portion of, and enjoy the company of your friends sitting al fresco. You can go for an Apericena at a fancy venue accompanied by its other fashionable friend 'finger food' or go to a simpler bar and enjoy mini pizzette, olives, focaccie and prosciutto, just enjoy it!
