We welcome the last week of September with a featured guide on one of our favorite towns in Sicily, the lovely Taormina, home to an ancient Greek theater and near many interesting smaller towns. Next up is a closer look at the Maremma region in Tuscany, albeit led by Italian language & poet great, Dante Alghieri.

Check out this blast from the past from the photos of American photographer Charles H. Traub, whose poignant shots capture Italy in the 80’s. In Rome, a new exhibit brings attention to one of the nicest historical spots in town that few know about. We also touch on ‘high-altitude’ slow food, a type of cheese produced 1,400-2,000 meters above sea level in Valtellina.

The language-learning tips of the week touch on the Italian school system, what you need to know and tips on what to say while eating out, Buon appetite!

With unusually cooler weather, our recipes reflect a heartier palate. We recommend this easy and tasty ‘pasta e fagioli’ soup, and these savory chickpea & rosemary pancakes.

For Italy-themed gifts, browse our shop! Our picks of the week include a wonderful recipe book on delicious Italian panini by author Veronica Lavenia, and this fun off-the-shoulder red leather Fiat 500 bag.

Move over George! Our featured properties this week include a gorgeous apartment located in one of the most prestigious areas of Lake Como and wonderful villa in Brindisi (Puglia) complete with your very own trullo. We also recommend checking out this beautiful property along the Ligurian coast.

Don’t forget to join our community of Italophiles where we encourage you to post (or answer) any Italy-themed query. You can also join the #ITALYMagazine fun with us on Instagram, tag us and we will share the best of the boot!
