Mount Etna Flares Up

The latest eruption of Italy's Mount Etna was a particularly intense and spectacular one: bursts of lava fountains and moving plumes of ash, as well as violent roars, accompanied the night between Sunday and Monday, forcing the closure of nearby Catania airport. The eruption could be seen from as far as Taormina. This eruption is the latest in a series that has seen the volcano very active in the past year, with eruptions lasting for weeks.
