I am sure there must be other posts of this nature - I don't know because it has taken such a long time to manage to get into this new forum, never mind actually read any of the posts.   Why couldn't the old account simply be transferred to this new "community" together with the passwords etc already set up?     In the course of my business and private life I have to set up many passwords and I have never found anything as time consuming and difficult as trying to set one up here - it's a forum after all, not a bank!    The chance of my ever remembering the password is pretty remote, what with capital letters and punctuation being obligatory.   Lets hope the computer saves it for me.    Well, I'm off to read what everybody has to say, in case I never manage to access you all again.

I understand the technical difficulties for some aspects of a migration, but nothing has been done here to help at all.... I for one did not intend to re-join and the only reason I did was the need for the helpful information on this forum. Having to log in to the old forum to see messages etc is  pain and should not be required.. Oh yes I know I can save them off and lose them with the rest of your clutter  ...

know what you mean...  but logistically i would think checking how many of the 7000 plus previous members wanted to move... would have been difficult... at least this way its a clean start... a lot of the sort of people that wanted to ridicule posts have finally dissappeared   ... and taking time i think you will find that as a whole the move has let us all end up with a far friendlier sort of place ...with a lot less clique type feeling ... more open and once you get used to it... and it will take time... a pretty useful place too.....  look at the marche group and how they and the community have raised funds for L'Aquila is a good example of how its working well...its still a place that is finding its feet ... to my mind anyway... and it needs help from people with experience of Italy from all sides... both to ask the right questions and have them answered ... hope the place grows on you as you wade through the new bits and pieces and try to work out how to find what you want....  as i say though ... it'll take perseverance...much like trying to become a member...

Hi all - I realise that it is a bit frustrating. Migration would actually have been simple - however, we wanted to make sure that everyone signing up to this community had a clear idea of what we are trying to achieve through the Member Agreement and was certain of wanting to be part of it.It would not be fair to create a whole new set of rules and simply more everyone over to those rules. We also only wanted to keep the more active accounts and have a better reflection of how many people are really involved.
