Could anyone tell me the current amount that is deemed to be "sufficient financial resources" for a UK couple when they apply for residency at the commune? And does the amount change every year? This is for a friend as when we applied we didn't have to provide any proof of income or healthcare.

We got residency about 18 months ago and we had to show proof of funds i.e. Italian Bank Account, with excess of €11,000.00. My wife is Italian so presumably that was just for me; but ask at the Comune what figure above they require because i have heard of differing ammounts.

I think its depends on comune to comune, and certainly whether you have dependent children. My husband and I (no children) had to show a joint income of €6,600. I think the numbers rose to about €11,600 if you had 3 children but as Gromit says check with your local comune.

for a single person its 6041 euros,  For a married couple its 10.600 and rises to 12500 (I think) with children. You can self certify, and show  a bank statement, English or Italian to show you have some money in the bank.
