I love Italian food. However, I've not been to Italy yet to experience it from a true Italian restaurant. My dilemma is that I also have celiac disease and am unable to eat wheat based pasta (a recent discovery). Does anyone know if there are restaurants in any towns there that make their pasta and dishes from another starch source? (Rice pasta, etc.?) Just wondering what to plan for when we are able to finally make the trip!!


From a television programme I saw on my last visit, celiac disease is widely-known in Italy in the restaurant business. However, none of the establishments in the programme were offering gluten-free pasta. Instead, they had non-pasta options available. (Gnocci, for example.)I have seen gluten-free options on pizza menus.
