This general strike, involving the big union CGIL, seems to be affecting Ryanair http://www.italiavela.it/articolo.asp?idarticolo=turismo-sciopero-settembre-ryanair-cancella-200-voli-da-per-italia_11697 and who knows what else - probably any train you had your eyes on.  Best to check before you travel - (though my hairdresser confirms he'll be open so that's fine for me, but he's an unreconstructed fascist.)

Fillide is correct - Ryanair have already cancelled flights so I imagine easyjet etc have done the same - http://www.ryanair.com/en/notices/gops/110905-trike_it-6sep-en-GB Good luck to anyone who had planned to use public transport today! At least some trains are guaranteed to run. PS: just checked, Easyjet have cancelled flights - http://easyjet.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3970
