Seven of Sardinia's Most Beautiful Beaches

As summer approaches, we begin a series dedicated to the most beautiful beaches in Italy, where we select seven of the best for each region. Italy has a coastline, including islands, of 7,600 km (4,700 mi), and Italians love going to the beach - you’ll have plenty of opportunities to mingle with the locals and partake in the beach culture of Italy. Beaches are often within easy reach of major cities, and, when temperatures soar, a seaside break from your art- and history-filled vacation may be just what you need.

We begin with the island of Sardinia, where it’s hard to find a beach that isn’t beautiful. Sardinia is the second largest island of the Mediterranean Sea, after Sicily. The coast of Sardinia is generally high and rocky, with long straight stretches of coastline, many headlands, a few wide bays, many inlets, and various smaller islands off the coast.

Here are seven of our favorite beaches in Sardinia.
