For those who remember Fairy 'Nuff of Il Picchio B&B near Lucca, Linda sadly passed away last night. Condolences to Gordon.

How did we feel about Michael o'Leary's view about flying through volcanic ash?  Would we be happy to fly with Ryanair as we'd have more chance of arriving at our destination, or more likely to fall out of the sky?

We are thinking of going to Sardinia for a holiday in June and wonder which is the best bit to aim for.  Have heard of Costa Esmerelda, any views on it?

Trip Report: Positano May 2009  After our adventures in Rome and Avellino Province in Campania (see previous trip reports) we moved on for the main part of our holiday, some serious chilling out on the beach.  We left our Agriturismo near Contrado

I am heading to Sicily tomorrow.  I suggest you log onto the Sicily Forum on Tripadvisor, Vagabonda is the most amazing resource for travelling there.

Just found this, we are off to Sicily in September, staying near Menfi and will be driving.  Will report back afterwards.  I look forward to hearing about the Montalbano B&B, I did see it advertised and hope to at least have a stroll on the beach and maybe take a photo of the place.  BBC4 are advertising four new episodes coming up 'soon'.  We have been enjoying the books in the meantime. Our visit was inspired by the BBC4 Andrew Graham Dixon/ Giorgio Locatelli programmes, but my research has revealed lots to see and do in Sicily.  We hope to explore Palermo/south west/ through to Siracusa corner, and do some relaxing in between!

I saw them once when on alderney in Channel Islands, late at night with no light pollution.  Think I might have difficultly tonight with light pollution in North West England, and there is cloud cover.  Maybe once again one year...

Loved them all and Sicily is definitely on the list!  The only direct flight from the northwest I can see is a Thompson one, anybody have any other ideas?

There's photos in the paper today of protestors marching in front of the Coliseum.  I expect there will be quite a bit of unrest while austerity measures bite.

We always use Avis as we save Airmiles which we use to pay with, and take out a policy with insurance4carhire.  Haven't had to make a claim yet (touch wood) so was reassured with Pacentr08's experience with them.  I find if I book by phone they are a bit more flexible than online which is sometimes helpful.
