Italy's best-loved screen and style icon, Sophia Loren, will celebrate a significant anniversary tomorrow as she turns 80 years old. A few months ago, when we had our editorial staff meeting to plan September's calendar we all agreed ITALY Magazine should celebrate the extraordinary life and career of this amazing Italian actress. We had so many ideas and filled the calendar with related stories and features, then somebody asked: won’t they (our wonderful readers!) have enough of Sophia Loren?' Well, it took us half a second to conclude that 'you simply cannot get enough of Donna Sophia'! A true international star, she has never forgotten her roots and promoted Italy more than any government campaign, tourist board or specialised magazine has ever done. Dedicating a week to her was the minimum we could do to thank her for the way she has represented Italy around the world over the years.
