There used to be a little shop in Viterbo which sold Indian spices, basmati rice, poppadoms etc. I can't find anything about it now. Anyone know if it is still open? In bocco al lupo!

Ciao e tutti, The other day, on the phone, I was casting about for a good translation of "flat-out", as in driving, running etc. I ended up with the rather feeble massima potenza, or a massima velocità.

Well it is nice to be back.

I haven't been able to login or reset my password for days. I usually login automatically with my browser so it isn't "just finger trouble"

Hmmm.  I wonder if it is a problem with the name; I have had this before. I was using the name from the dictionary "tasso". There is probably another dialect name for them! Maybee I'll have to resort to pictures enlightened

Ciao e tutti, I recently found an active underground common-wasp nest on out land. I marked so as to avoid stumbling upon it later. A couple of days later I went back to look at it & found that it had been completely dug up and destroyed. There were a few disorientated wasps buzzing around, but the nest & paper combs had been broken apart & eaten. Nearby I found a few small footprints & some (what looks like) porcupine spoor! I knew that European badgers were partial to wasps nests, but porcupines? The locals are adamant that there are no badgers in our area, so either they are wrong, or porcupines or cingiale eat wasps! Anybody else had their wasps dug up?

Hi A&R, If you have had your residency for 5 years or more then you must have the full monty by now surely? I didn't have too much trouble getting residency, I just had to keep visiting the various departments until I wore them downwink. Fortunately they are all in the same street in my little town, and usually uncrowded! In bocco al lupo!

Just to report the health situation in Lazio: I am under 65 & do not have health insurance, just my E106 from DWP. My (2 year life) Tessersa ran out in July 2010, before it did I popped into the local ASL (Bagnoregio) with all my usual bits of paper, they were briefly glanced at & I was told that my new Tessera would be arriving in the post. Well guess what; it was waiting for my when I got back & this one doesn't expire until Dec. 2016!! The only thing I didn't get was the little piece of paper with the chosen doctor's details on, the "Stampa Cedolino" I think I was told that I needed to come back (to the ASL) with my new Tessera to re-register with my chosen medico. It was all getting a bit complicated (both future & past subjunctive tenses!) by then, & my brain was beginning to melt. I don't know how important this is but I'll troll back in to the ASL in the spring when I'm back & see what can be obtained. Pip pip

The Revione data is stamped on the ownership papers. If you have a look at the Italian equivalent of the logbook you should see a white sticker/stamp near the bottom. This is what the police check for on roadside inspections. In bocco al lupo.

If this forum goes......... where else do folks visit? It is a bit of a pain when a forum closes down suddenly, not only do you lose all the useful archive postings but lots of friends too.  Pip pip
