Designer Cavalli to lecture at Oxford

Roberto Cavalli has been invited to give at lecture at Oxford University and will be the first Italian fashion designer to address the prestigious school.

Cavalli was invited by the Oxford Union Society and will hold his lecture on Wednesday.

The Oxford Union Society has traditionally organized a number of such encounters involving scholars and key players from the worlds of art and politics.

These have included former president Bill Clinton, designer Tom Ford, actor Michael Douglas, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the editor of Vogue America, Anna Wintour.

The day before his lecture at Oxford, the Tuscan designer will be the guest of the London College of Fashion for a public interview with journalist Colin McDowell, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The event is part of the Sunday Times Style Lecture series which is dedicated to fashion and related themes.

Cavalli's appearance in London will also be a first by an Italian designer.
